Reader Resource: If you struggle with "attracting" clients, this free blueprint shows a better way to generate them predictably.

Welcome back to another issue of Scalable Clients. Each issue is built to help you grow your client business with smart systems, AI leverage, and playbooks that actually work at scale.

Every Friday, we bring you one big idea to shift how you think about your business, the step-by-step playbook to implement it, tools we're actually using in the field, and a full operator's breakdown of the week (including the scoreboard and a day-by-day look at what drove the results)

If this was forwarded to you, you can subscribe for free and get it in your inbox every Friday » subscribe here.

In today's issue:

  • The highest-effort, lowest-leverage 45 minutes on your calendar, and why you keep booking more of them

  • The 10 questions that, answered once, turn strangers into pre-sold buyers before they ever hit "book"

  • Why shrinking your call volume is the win, not the loss (yes, really)

  • The day-to-day actions I took this week to increase revenue

Lock in, because this one is packed with insights that will help you scale. But before we get into it, here's the scoreboard update.

Newsletter subscribers 4,695
YouTube subscribers 67
Total Subscriptions 4,762
Leads Generated 30
Ad Revenue Generated $10.12
Affiliate Revenue Generated $206.80
Sales Revenue Generated $37,417.50
Total Revenue $37,634.42

Newsletter subscribers grew by 2,040 since last Friday. That’s an average of 291 new subscribers PER DAY, which is almost double from the last week’s daily average of 114 new subs per day.

My subscriber growth machine is firing on all cylinders, and I may actually scale it back a little this week so I don’t pollute the other data I’m looking at. I think the sweet spot for this newsletter is around the 150 - 200 per day range.

The YouTube channel inched up by another 7 subscribers since last week, and last weeks video (How We Delivered 79,082 Subscribers to Client Newsletters, Without a Single Opt-In Form) is now the most popular video on the channel with 176 views.

We generated 12 new leads into the funnel this week, and landed 3 more booked calls. (1 converted into more recurring revenue - more on that later)

Total revenue grew by $2,687.42 over the last 7 days, and that includes my first affiliate commission generated from this brand in the amount of $206.80.

All in all, I’m happy with the results so far, and will keep pushing.

If you want the SPECIFICS of exactly HOW I made this happen this week, be sure to read the ‘operators log’ below.

For now, let’s dig into this weeks big idea and playbook.

THE BIG IDEA

Create Content That Pre-Qualifies

Quick confession first: for years, my calendar was a graveyard of 45-minute discovery calls with people who were never going to buy. Tire-kickers. Budget-shoppers. "Just exploring."

I treated every booking like a win, and every call like a chance to prove myself. The whole time, the problem wasn't my pitch. It was that I was letting the wrong people onto the phone in the first place.

This is a pattern almost every capped operator is stuck in, and it hides in plain sight because it looks like good sales hygiene.

Someone lands on your site. They book a call. You spend 45 minutes explaining what you do, what it costs, who it's for, what happens if it doesn't work. Half of them nod, say "let me think about it," and vanish. You call it a slow week.

Here's the reframe: that call didn't fail. It was doing the wrong job.

You were using your most expensive, least-scalable asset (your live time, in real time, one human at a time) … to answer questions the same way, for the fiftieth time, to people who hadn't decided anything yet.

Qualification isn't something you do on the call. It's something your content did last week.

The discovery call should confirm a fit, not create one.

I learned this the hard way. I stabilized my pipeline, finally had calls booking, and I was still drowning. Because more calls just meant more unpaid consulting.

The leverage wasn't actually in taking more calls like I thought … It was in making sure the only people who booked were the ones already sold.

The playbook below will show you how to fix it this weekend.

BUT FIRST A WORD FROM TODAY’S SPONSOR

Part of building in public means being honest about how this newsletter actually makes money, and sponsorships are one of those ways. They’re also one of the exact revenue streams we teach our own clients to build, so it’s only right that I use them myself and show you how it works.

I run Scalable Clients on Beehiiv, and one of the reasons is that they connect newsletters like this one with sponsors who pay to put their offer in front of you. Every time you read or click one of these, it helps fund the free work I send you each week.

Here’s my promise: I’ll only ever run a sponsor I genuinely believe is relevant and helpful to you as you grow and scale your client business. If it can’t earn its place, it doesn’t go in. With that said, here’s today’s sponsor. It’s an advertising strategy that I haven’t personally tried, but it’s DIFFERENT, and ‘different’ can sometimes produce results far and away better than the common channels.

THE PLAYBOOK

Answer These 10 Clarifying Questions

One rule: every question a prospect asks ON the call is a question your content should have answered BEFORE it.

Here's the weekend build. One asset, five steps.

1/ List the 10 questions every prospect asks before they buy.

Not the ones you wish they asked. The real ones: price range, timeline, what's included, who it's NOT for, what happens if it doesn't work. Pick 10 questions your ideal client is already asking before they book.

Why it matters: these are the questions eating your call time right now, on repeat.

2/ Answer each one honestly, in writing.

Real ranges. Real timelines. The real "this isn't for you if..." No hedging.

Why it matters: specifics sound like the truth. Vagueness sounds like marketing, and marketing doesn't qualify anyone.

3/ Package it into ONE pre-call asset.

A page, a 12-minute Loom, or a single email. Doesn't matter which. It just has to be watched or read before a call gets booked.

Why it matters: you build it once, and it qualifies forever.

4/ Add a disqualification line, on purpose.

Borrow from any discovery framework: specify what signals should trigger disqualification. Move that upstream, into the asset. "If your budget is under X, this isn't the right fit, and here's what is."

Why it matters: the honest tradeoff. This shrinks your call volume. That FEELS like losing leads. It's the point. You're turning tire-kickers away before they cost you 45 minutes.

5/ Gate the calendar behind it.

The booking link only appears after the asset. Watch, then book.

Run the math. If 30% of your calls are unqualified at 45 minutes each, and you take 10 calls a week, that's over two hours back, every week, forever. Plus a higher close rate on the calls that remain, because the only people left are the ones the asset already pre-sold.

Your call volume goes down. Your close rate goes up. That's not a coincidence. That's the asset working.

TOOLS I ACTUALLY USE

Three tools that make the weekend build faster:

  • Loom - record the 12-minute answer-the-10-questions video in one take. No editing. Your face, your voice, your honesty. This is the highest-trust version of the asset and the fastest to produce.

  • Tally (or Typeform) - a short qualifying form between the asset and the calendar. Two or three questions that confirm budget and fit before anyone books.

  • Claude - draft the written version of your 10 answers, then edit for voice. It clears the blank-page friction so the only thing left is your judgment. (I use it daily.)

Use what fits you, skip what doesn't. A Loom and a calendar gate will do the whole job. You don't need all three this weekend.

THIS WEEK ON THE CHANNEL

In this video I break down exactly how I built the Scalable Clients newsletter to roughly $25,000 in cash in just 6 weeks with only 1,300 subscribers.

I walk you through the whole thing week by week, show you the actual receipts, and reveal the 3 offers that made up the revenue and why the conversation, not the subscriber count, is what actually drove it.

Here is the big idea: I built the offer and conversion path before I ever chased a single subscriber. I call it offer to list fit, and it is the difference between a list that prints money and one that starves.

Watch it on the channel and hit subscribe so the next one finds you automatically.

Next week: I walk you through why hustle is the single most expensive input inside a client business, and how to run one simple test that tells you whether you've built a real business or just an expensive job.

I spent 17 years in direct response marketing believing output was everything, until I realized I'd built a business that couldn't run without me. If you're booked out and still not free, this one is for you.

Subscribe while you're there so you catch it.

THE CLIENT SOLUTION

The pre-call asset is one Authority Asset. Your newsletter is the one that runs the whole show. The Strategic Newsletter OS is the exact system I use to turn a list into a market that pre-sells before anyone ever books a call.

THE OPERATOR’S LOG

Here's the day-by-day actions from this week:

Monday: I did my weekly planning and spent some time updating the DFY subscriber delivery SOP.

Tuesday: I spent most of the day inside the NicheWire studio scripting, recording, editing, and scheduling my next 3 YouTube videos.

Wednesday: I took 2 sales calls before lunch (closed 1 of 2). Spent the afternoon on coaching calls, and helping my clients grow their business.

Thursday: I knocked out another coaching call in the morning, and spent the rest of the day doing live training calls for my community.

Friday: Wrote this email that you’re reading now.

My honest read so far about how things are going:

As mentioned in the scoreboard update, the newsletter subs, youtube subs, and revenue are all growing nicely consistently.

Brenda has been head down all week working on our new webinar to sell our DFY services to the functional medicine market. The biggest thing on my plate at the moment is moving our entire existing business into a brand new CRM.

This new market we are going into requires us to be fully HIPAA compliant, so we can no longer use our current CRM. It’s a big move, but it’s for the best.

At the same time, we are moving our community from Circle into a brand new custom coded community that I created myself. We were paying over $500 per month for the Circle community, and since we are shifting into the DFY services, it no longer makes sense to pay that high fee.

Those 2 moves are not small moves, and will be taking up most of my time over the next 7 days. My goal is to get everything fully moved over by the time we leave for an event in Dallas on the 22nd.

As far as this newsletter goes, the open rates are still holding strong above 50%:

Here’s the growth chart for this brand so far: (I like what I’m seeing)

As mentioned last week, I started outlining a deep dive (4+ hour) video that breaks down every part of my newsletter system and shows you how to replicate it.

I’m treating it as if I’m going to be selling it for $10k … workbooks, resources, bits, and everything will be included.

I could easily launch this with partners and probably make $70k+ from selling it…but instead I’m just going to give it all away for free on my YouTube channel.

It should be ready in the next 2 weeks. If that’s not enough to earn you as a subscriber, I don’t know what is.

YOUR MOVE

Do This Today:

Open a doc and list the 10 questions your prospects ALWAYS ask before they buy. Just the list. Don't answer them yet, don't build the asset yet.

Ten questions, that's it.

That list is the raw material for the whole weekend build, and you can write it in fifteen minutes between calls.

Hit reply and tell me this: what's the ONE question you answer on every single discovery call that you're tired of answering? I read every reply, and I'm genuinely curious which question is eating the most of your time. Be honest.

Enjoy your weekend.

I'll be spending mine with family. We’re going to the farmers market tomorrow, and then to watch some locals participate in a live drum off and guitar competition

Talk soon,
